With paraffin, we transform a single material into various everyday products
Petrobras Paraffin is present in several products that we use in our daily lives. The main application is in the production of candles, of course, due to its combustible property and its very low odor, but it is also used as a raw material in the production of:
Food packaging.
Hot-melt stickers.
Cosmetics.
Printer inks.
Polishing waxes.
Rubber.
Matches.
Chlorinated paraffin.
In addition, paraffin is also used:
As overlap for paper, cardboard, electronic components, and other materials.
To provide waterproofing or protection of fabrics and wood.
For electrical insulation.
Petrobras sells its paraffins from Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC), located in Rio de Janeiro.
Characteristics and quality requirements
Petrobras Paraffins, developed with quality and technology, are of ultra-low sulfur content (UBTE).
They are tagged and sold according to their melting temperature range in Fahrenheit degrees (°F), exclusively in bulk. Distributors sell them in different packages for different industries. Know Petrobras Paraffins:
Originating from distilled cuts that form large, well-defined crystals.
- 120/125 Paraffin.
- 130/135 Paraffin.
- 137/142 Paraffin.
- 150/155 Paraffin.
With higher molar mass, originating from residual fractions that form small crystals.
170/190 Paraffin.
The high degree of refining to which Petrobras Paraffins are submitted gives them a white color and excellent chemical stability, being produced and purified by a high-severity water treatment, in order to meet the defined quality requirements, whatever their use:
- Remain in solid state under conditions of use.
- Consistency and hardness.
- Absence of contaminants.
- Adequate adhesiveness and moldability.
- Ivory color (tends to white).
- Odorless.
- Tasteless.
- Excellent chemical stability.
